Incoming: It Kills

One of my favourite WTF-happened-to-them bands over the past couple years is I See Rowboats, a five-piece from Halifax. I caught one of their first (maybe it was their first?) gigs back in 2007 as Gus’s Pub before they even had a name and was totally floored. They caught quite a bit of local press when they dropped their debut EP, and even managed to land on the cover of the Coast. I saw them a few more times before moving to Toronto. Though they’ve come through town a couple times since, they’ve been pretty quiet lately. That is, until now (sorta).
It Kills boast 3/5 of I See Rowboats (Lisa Lipton, William Robinson and Solomon Vromans). While elements of I See Rowboats sound can certainly be heard on the three tracks up at their myspace page, they’ve taken their music to a more abstract place, lying somewhere between Sigur Ros’ beauty and God Speed You Black Emperor’s frightening menace. Their debut album It Kills drops July 20 and you can check out the track “Sailors” below.
