New No Age – "You’re a Target"

Via Exclaim’s Click Hear:

L.A. lo-fi/fuzz-punk/shitgaze/whatever-you-want-to-call-them duo No Age have a new EP coming out on Sub Pop this October called Losing Feeling. But if October seems like just too long of a wait, Sub Pop is streaming the whole damn thing over on their website right now. And for those posterity minded folks, you can download closing track “You’re a Target” from the band’s blog.

Though hardly breaking the bank in the studio, “You’re a Target” continues to strip back the shambolic feel that so typified the band’s earlier work in place of a slightly more ethereal shoegaze vibe. Thankfully, along with this newfound interest in having the various noises they record distinguishable from one another, the pair are really coming into their own as song writers.

Incoming: CFCF – "You Hear Colours" video and mp3

cfcfI’ve previously written about  CFCF and his EP Parisian Nights which is available for digital download from Paperbag Records. But Acephale Records just released the fantastic new 7 inch “You Hear Colours” from Montreal DJ. The mysterious knob tweaker also has a nifty new video for the track. The clip, which was directed by Dallas filmmaker/blogger/VJ Tommyboy, teams CFCFs instrumental track with footage from the National Geographic and NASA video “Loneliness of The Long Distance Runner,” which I must say, work quite well together.

You can order your limited edition (of 500) copy of “You Hear Colours” backed by the as-excellent-as-the-a-side track “Invitation to Love” on white vinyl via Acephale’s website. An mp3 of “You Hear Colours” is below.

podcastThe second edition is coming at you with speed, gumption and awesomosity.

I tried to mix up the genres a bit this time. I also prattled on quite a bit more (as was suggested by a few people) so sorry if that’s annoying to you. I promise I’ll actually prepare next time.

if the music's loud enough… podcast is here!!!!!

podcastSo I’ve decided to start podcasting through the blog. I’m not very good at it. But I’ll get better…  I promise.

This is the first episode, with tracks culled from a mixtape I recently made for my friend Dave. Future casts will be much more ecclectic in their music selections, but as far as the rock goes, I think this is a fair assessment of what this blog is all about.
